About Karen

Well Hello!

I'm Karen Rowley, I live near Haworth in West Yorkshire with my giddy son Gabriel and my lazy Cocker Spaniel Beckham.

Lifelong Learning

With years of professional design and illustration experience to call upon my photography is full of feeling, creativity and classic style. But… that’s not all. I love learning. All the time. Counselling, customer services, dog showing and breeding, advising teenagers (a skill in itself), events planning – I’ve dipped into them all and more. And of course the most significant learning curve – motherhood. So what? Well I can relate to children, young adults, the elderly, dog lovers, parents, even Star Wars fans. I understand the significance of little things.

Location

Although I have lived elsewhere in England, I have always returned, like a homing pigeon, to Yorkshire. Living in West Yorkshire, but right on the border of the Dales, North Yorkshire and Lancashire, this gives me easy access to all these fabulous locations. Described as 'God's Own Country' it is strikingly rugged and achingly beautiful. It plays a big part in my photo shoots and helps to evoke a mood. Portraits are taken in a favourite park, a well-loved hillside, or just down the lane, but always using this region as a stunning backdrop!

How I work

A big part of my personal philosophy is to get to know you and find out what is special to you, and that will be a key feature in all the types of shoots I do. I try to make each shoot
as individual to you and your family as it can be. Portrait shoots are a fun and lively experience which captures the uniqueness of your relationships and you as a family.

Small and perfectly formed

I only do a few small, select weddings per year so you really will receive my full attention and again a hugely important part is for me to get to know my brides and grooms and get a real feel for what is really important to you about the day. Is it all about the emotion and ceremony? Is it about the coming together of family and friends? Is it about the small details and style of the day or is it a combination of all those elements?

First impressions

For businesses, you may be small with big aspirations which I will help you achieve. Often clients will initially see your business through social media or web presence and representing yourself with snaps taken on a mobile will not give you the edge. I will invest in your journey from start up to successful growing venture, giving you the professional shop window you need.
